override business definition

  1. A fee paid to managers that is in addition to their regular pay. For example, a sales manager may receive a portion of the commissions paid to other salespeople. Also called commission override.
  2. In taxation, an assessment that is in addition to any automatic increase.
  3. A mechanism for altering an automatic process. For example, equipment may have an override that allows an employee to interrupt its normal operation.
