Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) business definition

A regional securities exchange that provides a fully automated matching system for equities. The CHX first opened for business in 1882 and later merged with exchanges in Cleveland, Minneapolis, and St. Louis to form the Midwest Stock Exchange. The exchange reclaimed its prior name in 1993. The CHX currently trades over 3,500 stocks, including many issues also listed on the NYSE, AMEX, and Nasdaq.
