Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) business definition
A derivatives exchange established in 1848 to trade forward contracts in agricultural commodities, including wheat, corn, and oats. The exchange introduced electronic trading in 1994 after 145 years of using open outcry. The Chicago Board of Trade was purchased in 2007 by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to form CME Group, Inc.
